I am an American artist/videographer living on the island of Sardinia in the western Mediterranean. I have taught and conducted art-related workshops and courses in painting, drawing, photography, video production, graphic and computer arts, among many other subjects, in both the United States and Italy at the university level. I studied photography and art at The Ohio State University (70s), The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (late 80s) and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (early 90s). I also have a Ph.D. from Cornell University and was a practicing psychotherapist before art occupied all my life and resulted in my returning to school for an M.F.A. in Studio Art which I received from Florida State University in 1999. I arrived in Italy at the end of 1999 teaching in American university programs in Florence. I was the Dean of Students of an art institute in Florence, Italy, before moving to Sardinia. I am also a
photographer and
painter.
About Sardinia
Sardinia is a beautiful island, for the most part unknown and unspoiled, with its natural beauty, and with few tourists except for August when it seems all of Italy wants to come to Sardinia and lay on its justly famous beaches. While Sardinia is famous for its beaches and a quirky book by D.H. Lawrence, the most beautiful parts of the island are not along the coast, but inland, places few tourists go. Fortunately, I live in this less touristic part of Sardinia, on a mountain, in a small village called Santu Lussurgiu, built in the crater of an extinct volcano.
